Have I ever said what fantastic swimmers we have in this house??? Maybe a time or two huh...well this weekend in Idaho Falls, they showed it once again. Megan & Trace swam really well and the goal was to qualify for more events for the Regional Swim Meet in 2 weeks. Goal accomplished!!! Megan qualified for 1 more event and Trace 2 more! :) For my records...seed times and times for this weekend:
Megan:
100 yd Freestyle: Seed time: 1:07:14 Time: 1:04:09 Best time ever: 1:03:32 ('09 State)
50 yd Freestyle: Seed time: 30:17 Time: 30.00* Best time ever: 28.27 ('09 State)
100 yd Back: Seed time: 1:17:87 Time: 1:16:28*
(Megan's best times listed were her best times last fall during HS swimming and these times qualified her for State last fall. The seed times were her meet times in Dec-Jan) She took a 3 month break from the water for basketball. You can see how just a short time out of the water makes for time increases. But she is also dropping time and she's just been in the water every day for 3 weeks now since basketball ended the end of Jan)
Good Job Megs!!! I am so proud of you!!!
Trace:
25 Free: Seed time: 22:34 Time: 19.98* His best time ever!! Placed 7th in 8 under!
25 Breast: Seed time: 36:03 Time: 33:77 His best time ever!! Placed 13th
25 Back: Seed time: 22:62 Time: 23:84* Placed 7th 8un Best time: 22:62
25 Fly: Seed time: 32:26 Tme: 28:30 Best time ever!!!
50 Free: Seed time: 52:68 Time: 44:73* Best time ever!!! Placed 8th
Good Job Tracers!!! I am so proud of you!!!
* These are the events the kids are qualified in for the 2010 Pacific Region North Swimming Championships which will be March 5-7 in Boise. My friend that has 4 amazing swimmers says it is really unusual for kids to qualify for this regional swim meet during their first year of competitive swimming. So we are really impressed with our kids as this is the first year Trace has swum and Megan's first year of swimming outside of the summer league.
Fun weekend: bad news was Steve had been fighting a bad toothace since last Sunday. Our dentist was out of town all last week so Steve tried to suffer through. Saturday the tooth was getting the best of him so in our free time between swim sessions he tracked down a dentist that would take care of him on a Saturday. Bummer! our free time was spent there, so we didn't get to visit with friends like we wanted to over there. Maybe next time! At least his tooth is better! The world is so much brighter without a sore mouth!
It was so nice to come home, the grass is almost green over here. It's still snowy and cold the East side of the state! I love Twin Falls this time of year!!!

A Snow Weekend
I find myself not posting because there are still things I want to get up here (i.e. the Holidays, NFR, Dallee, Basketball, etc.) but I haven't had the time to. So days turn into weeks and eventual months and the snowball effect takes place. So I have resigned myself to just post when I want and let the "catch up" happen when "if" it happens!
I have a new addiction, like I need one of those...but facebook is alot of fun. I find myself rewarding me with a few minutes of facebook time when my chores are done. Otherwise it is too easy to get on there and spent waaay too much time. Since my family all lives far from me it is a great way to feel apart of each others daily lives. Its amazing what a quick comment can do for one's morale! Its been fun finding "old" friends. Some as far back as high school...those are the long gone days! But its fun to see where everyone is and catch a glimpse of their lives. That being said many friends and my family in Colorado have talked about how much snow they have gotten this year. We in Idaho really have had a zero winter. We had a few really cold weeks in December and a few flurries far and few in between. Pretty much a mild winter. I have missed the snow.
We did see some snow this weekend. We were lucky to get to spend the weekend at our friends winter cabin about 1.5 hrs from here in Fairfield. We got to see the glorious white stuff, shovel a bit, sit by the fire, watch hour upon hour of another new addiction...24 the TV series, eat good food and the kids spent the day on Saturday at the ski hill...Soldier Summit...which is owned by Bruce Willis. (Didn't know that until this weekend). Trace went down the big hill. This was only the 2nd time he has gone. Last year (Dec '08) we went as a family and had such a fun time we swore it was our new winter passion. Then we found out we were pregnant...and never went again last winter. Chase went with his 5th grade class and Megan went with her BB team last year. But the kids think it is great fun and have begged to go again. Unfortunately it hasn't happend much but we captured the opportunity this weekend and Steve took the kids up the hill. I stayed at the cabin...I enjoyed the down time by the fire with my little girls. We did venture up the hill and watch the kids the last few hours of the day. I will admit watching my daughter glide down the hill so gracefully made me a bit jealous and I did wish that I was out there. Someday...! Last year when we went, Megan's friend kept Charlee. I remember thinking, "next year, Charlee can come and we'll all be out here" Well as you know the year brought beautiful baby Dallee and so now we have a few more years until we are all out there. I told Megan when she visits from college we'll all be able to go board. (Megan + college = such a bizarre thought...but I know it is just a blink away)
It was a fun weekend. Nothing better than a quiet weekend with family and friends! These are the memories!
